Three concepts; extraordinary properties, outstanding accessories, and exceptional service made Villazzo. In 2002 Christian Jagodzinski founded Villazzo and developed a new hotel concept bringing the five-star hotel experience to hotel-quality private residences, in some of the most desirable holiday locations worldwide; St. Tropez, Marbella, Miami, Aspen, Courchevel and Paris. The result is a place that guests don’t have to share with anyone, that combines all the advantages of both villa and hotel, without the disadvantages of either. Villazzo adds its own accessories and highly trained hotel staff, from butlers and chefs to beauticians and chauffeurs, all under the ever-watchful eye of a personal VillaHotel manager. Guests simply choose the staff they need and the lifestyle they desire.

The latest addition is VillaHotel Athena designed by real estate developer John Turchin. The property is valued at $22 million and is overlooking Biscayne Bay on the exclusive Hibiscus Island. VillaHotel Athena has a main house, guest house, boat house and cabana all set within tiered pools connected by walkways and is comprised of 13,000sq ft of individual pods. Athena’s Greek architecture includes a 50 ft windmill with sails that shade the swimming pool. The overall theme is typical of Cyclades houses – domed roofs, large open arches, whitewashed paintwork, wood beamed ceilings and stone floors. The main house has a master suite, lounge, dining room and kitchen, as well as numerous dining alcoves, bar areas and terraces. VillaHotel Athena has been carefully chosen to meet particular criteria to adhere to the Villazzo vision. All aspects of the property including the location, style, character, furnishings and equipment, have been carefully examined by Villazzo’s team of experts.

The living room is characterised by open plan design giving it an airy and light feeling along with following in the Greek tradition that communication and being together should prevail in communal spaces. The vast room is only divided between the kitchen and living area by two wooden columns. Colours are minimal and only a touch of red can be found on the silk cushions displayed on the sofa.

The focus in the master bedroom is the enormous bed encased within wooden logs. The room is minimal in design and focuses its attention on the colourful cushions, further making the bed the protagonist in the room. Fine linens, Bulgari bath products, Villazzo fluffy bathrobes and slippers are the final touches.

The main living area of the house is characterised by laid-back chairs which denominates the atmosphere of the room. The wooden theme with the white continues in the once again uncluttered space. Only a dash of colour is used in the red vase placed along the wall.

The dining room is always one of the most important rooms of the house and the dominating table contrasts with the lightness in the white curtains which can be opened to become a veranda. Designed to give diners full use of the holiday atmosphere in feeling virtually outside without having to leave the house. The seating on one side of the table is a bench to further reinforce the idea of no barriers between the patrons. The room is also void of lighting apart from the central bronze chandelier which gives off the natural glow of candles.

The kitchen is designed around the central working area lined by seating for guests to congregate with the chef. The striking extractor fan is the main object and determines the focus of the room. Five Star Living
