Art Basel Miami is a melting pot of talent and celebration of art in all its forms.
You can expect to see; digital art, paintings, drawings, photography, film, sculpture, installations and more. To make the most of your visit, plan your schedule in advance – some recommendations further below.
When the gallery doors close, the city comes to life with a vibrant party scene, best enjoyed from its rooftop bars, private yachts, and luxury Miami villas.
You never know who you might bump into, everyone from Cardi B and Leonardo DiCaprio, to Bella Hadid and Sean Penn have been spotted in previous years.
The first day of this three-day extravaganza is hosted exclusively for private collectors.
VIPs get the chance to preview collections and schmooze with the industry.
Equipped with a coveted First Choice VIP card also gains you access to
exclusive venues like the Cigar Lounge
and Art Basel Salon for keynote presentations by industry leaders.
Subsequent days lend themselves to a wider choice of exhibits for all to enjoy in the Miami Convention Center and beyond.
Each year, the event raises its game with head-turning works making global headlines. Who could forget
infamous banana strapped to a wall, reportedly auctioned for $150,000!
The Convention Center is one of the main spaces with exhibits from global galleries. It’s a warren’s den of artists, so a quick consultation of the floor map is advised.
Look out for popular sections like ‘Nova’ showcase recent artworks from hand-selected artists and ‘Edition’ where you can meander over editioned prints and works - great for collectors.
For those who appreciate single-art projects, ‘Positions’ is always a section to seek out. Although the full schedule is yet to be announced, we’re expecting big things from ‘Merdians’. This recent entry shows the alternative side of art, and brings to the fore thought-provoking installations, sculptures, and creative works. Definitely one for the experimental type.
Hosted on the centrally-located Ocean Drive, Scope exhibits over 130 different and diverse events that range from live music through to journeys in meditation. This is the place to open your mind, more than your purse, and discover something new. Last year, the programme focused on ‘Art China’, showcasing cutting-edge work from a spectrum of artists under its South Beach spotlight.
There’s many other talks, shows and curated collections to check out, such as Mikhaile Solomon’s ‘Prizm’ and the ‘Levi Haus’ which fuses fashion and art in one pop-up delight.
The party is just starting when the sun sets over South Beach. Look out for VIP cocktail parties and
celebrity-clad events in some of the prime locations around town.
Soho House is always in on the action. Their ‘Stargazing’ conversation in partnership with BMW last year attracted a hip and professional crowd of culture vultures. Meanwhile for all the throwback feels, we hope that Cadillac Hotel & Beach Club once again transforms itself into a vintage homage to a bygone era.
For foot-thumping bangers, the Delano Beach Club brings poolside cool to a young up-for-it crowd, last year with DJ Khaled gracing the decks.
Expect a number of exciting pop-up events and celebrity collaborations too. In 2019, David Yarrow, Lenny Kravitz, LeBron James and Cat Cohen, were just some of the big names involved.
For an event this stylish, only a Miami Mansion Rentals will do. Villazzo has some of the best properties on
the market, most with waterfront views and private docks in the most sought-after locations in the city.
From the shores of South Beach to the secluded Star Islands and Venetian Islands, ensure your
property is within reach of all the action and exhibitions
Central to all the shows, this leading luxury villa is located between the bustle of Miami Beach and buzz of Downtown. For Art Basel visitors, this is in a prime location, not far from the main tent and in the heart of the action.
Set back from the party atmosphere of South Beach, Villa Siri is still close enough to tap into the Art Basel fun. Benefitting from its privileged position on a quiet island, it's still within easy reach of the Art Basel tents. With a residential touch, it's a cozy spot for families to enjoy.
There's also plenty of after-hours to enjoy at the newly opened Edition and 1Hotel, for a modern jet-set crowd.
For cocktails with flair, head to Faena which is conveniently near the exhibit and sure to be a buzzing spot for post-art musing.
For all the party feels, ‘The Wall’ at the W is where to flock for a cosmopolitan 'up-for-it' crowd when the sun goes down over South Beach.
