Why Florida Is a Celebrity Hotspot for Real Estate

With its year-round sunshine, miles of pristine beaches, theme parks, art scene, luxury villa rentals and world-class entertainment, it’s easy to see why Florida is one of the top destinations for tourists. But that’s not all.

In recent years celebrities have succumb to its charms, buying up real-estate in record numbers. As such, the local population has more than triples since the 70s, adding more than 3 million residents every decade.

Whether you consider celebrities purveyors of good taste, or good investment, it’s fair to say that A-listers are no strangers to Florida’s real estate market. Let’s take a deeper dive into the Florida property scene, and see why the jet set are flocking here in numbers.

Nuevo cool

Let’s face it, everyone’s looking for the next big thing and while New York and Los Angeles are obvious hangouts, Florida is more understated. Not only is it the new ‘cool kid on the block’, but it’s becoming ever-trendy with names such as Kim Kardashian, Serena Williams and Jennifer Lopez buying up property in the Sunshine State. For those that can’t quite stretch to the multi-million price tag, there’s a host of luxury Miami villa rentals for a fraction of the price, making it a popular holiday destination too.

Tax haven

Investing in Florida real estate has a financial advantage too. The state’s average property tax rate is just 0.83% – much lower than the national average 1.07%. No wonder it’s a popular place for the rich and famous to invest their assets.  Amongst the most affluent areas is Palm Beach, Lake Mary and Belle Island.

And it’s not just tax savings either. A recent study found that groceries and electricity in Florida are much cheaper than the national average, making it a great place to live.

Waterside access

Surrounded by sublime turquoise waters, Florida is one of the most beautiful parts of the world. For the jet-set clique, this also means easy access to its waterways for sailing around the Bahamas, down to the Caribbean, or across the pond in the summer months. Since many villas in Miami Florida have private docks and waterside access, it’s a given that this would attract an A-list crowd.

The lifestyle

Make no mistake, finances and luxury aside, there’s something highly inviting about the Floridan way of life. Its sub-tropical climate offers mild winters and hot summers that make it a great place to visit all-year-round.

Plus, Florida is home to world-class attractions, sports stadiums, bars and restaurants to rival any other state. From the playground of Disneyland to The Everglades and not forgetting the natural beauty of The Keys, it really is an all-round powerhouse and ultimate playground for those with discerning taste (and deep pockets!)

Natural beauty

Beaches, parks and oceans – Florida has them in abundance, and for the A-list community, this is highly appealing as a place to get away from it all.

Floridan resident Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson has publicly stated that Florida is his favourite place to live, as homeowner to numerous properties in the State. He can often be seen hanging out in his pool, and working out in his luxury Miami home on his Instagram feed, for all the Miami vibes.
