For an added extra, you can hire your own boat to explore the coast in style.

What are the highlights this year?
As one of the greatest and most widely publicized celebrations of film, and now in its 71st season, this year’s event promises to be another memorable year, with Cate Blanchett named President of the Jury.
As usual, open-air screenings at the Cinema de la Plage are open to all from 9pm during the Festival. Usefully, this is opposite the Hotel Majestic – one of the prime locations for a pre-and post-film Prosecco. It’s always a guaranteed venue to rub shoulders with industry insiders too.
Alternatively, if you’re happy to mingle with bystanders, the Red Carpet and Blue Carpet zones in and around the coveted Debussy Theatre, are great vantage points to soak up the atmosphere.
Invite Only Screenings
Those on the inside, including; investors, journalists, directors, publicists, actors and producers, will need to apply for a badge beforehand for accreditation.
Where to Schmooze!
For a touch of elite luxury, the annual Chopard gathering is not to be missed on May 11, returning to the legendary Savarona yacht. If you are lucky enough to be on the guest list to the Swarovski lunch (May 19) you can look forward to rubbing shoulders with Penelope Cruz, heading up the intimate get-together.
For an altogether more public event, look out for the Hollywood Foreign Press Association for top gatherings with fundraising initiatives.
Where to wine and dine
One of the ultimate Cannes venues is the Hotel du Cap Eden-Roc, a great location for lunch, dinner and post-theatre drinks.
For lunch, 45 La Croisette at Le Grand Hotel is the perfect spot for a two-course lunch, with a delightful selection of fresh seafood and an excellent wine menu.
The world may be your oyster, but when it comes to booking the luxury vacation rental of your dreams, it can be hard to know where to start.
Which is why we’ve compiled a list of exquisite locations for the year ahead, picked by those who know luxury better than anyone else – celebrities! From the fresh air of Colorado, to the sun kissed shores of St Barth’s, here’s some of the hottest destinations on the A-list map.
Known as “the St Tropez of the Caribbean”, this French-speaking island is known for its picture-postcard beaches, designer shops and celebrity clientele.
Thinking of paying a visit? You’re in good company. Beyonce and Jay-Z, Orlando Bloom, Rihanna, and most recently Cindy Crawford, are just some of the stars that have been spotted “chez” Barths.
With lavish luxury villas to rent and hillside pools to unwind it, this is the perfect island for relaxation and seclusion. Be sure to do as A-listers and visit La Langouste in Flamands Bay for extraordinary seafood, followed by a walk around Gustavia harbor to ogle at the jaw-dropping yachts.
What do Bella Hadid, Stella McCartney and Elton John all have in common? Their love of Aspen, of course!
The fresh mountain air, alluring après ski and plenty of outdoor adventure, make it a popular haven for the jet set, with luxury chalet rentals a prerequisite.
With award-winning runs for ski, sledge and snowboarding by day, and warm cozy nights in by the fire at night, it makes a particular favorite during the holidays. With any luck, you may even bump in to Mariah Carey on the slopes.
From Kim and Kanye, to Kate Moss and friends, Ibiza’s the place to see and be seen. If you can’t afford to take a private jet like Cristiano Ronaldo, you may prefer to moor up alongside the other superyachts in town, like Simon Cowell.
Always attracting an A-list crowd and superstar DJs like Calvin Harris, Ibiza Town is the place for a pre-party drink and bite to eat. However, this island is all about the beach and there’s plenty to pick from, including Cala Salada, Las Salinas and the nearby idyllic island of Formentera – a favorite with Noel Gallagher.
For the true Ibiza experience though, only a luxury rental villa perching off a hillside cliff will do!
A haven for the glitterati since the 50s, Mallorca has welcomed legends such as Fred Astaire and Ava Gardner, along with Tom Cruise and Michael Douglas and Catherine Zeta-Jones to its golden shores.
Boasting 300 days of sunshine a year, excellent golf courses, secluded bays and top-notch restaurants, this beautiful Balearic island is a timeless destination. Santa Catalina is a popular spot for five-star dining, while Bar Abaco is the place to star-gaze, in more ways than one!
Finally, no trip is complete without a trip to Puerto Portals, where you might even bump in to Bill Gates on his mega yacht.
This chilled out get-away has long been a favorite with the jet set community, since it offers tranquility and hillside retreats to escape to. Made famous by Brigitte Bardot in the film ‘And God Created Women’, a string of celebrities has been known to visit this beautiful coastal resort, including the Kardashians, Leonardo DiCaprio and supermodel Naomi Campbell. This is one place where lounging on your super-yacht is the best way to blend in!

Looking for the best St. Tropez hotspots? It goes without saying that Villazzo Founder and CEO, Christian Jagodzinski, has been jet-setting to many different places in the world. Yet, he keeps coming back to Saint-Tropez, not only because of his various business interests there, but also for the beautiful weather (and people!), great restaurants and hot nightlife. We asked him to share his favorite places to hang out, dine, drink and party in this tiny coastal town. Here’s the scoop from someone who really knows the scene.
“Your typical vacation day in Saint-Tropez can be divided into three parts— late lunch, late dinner and late night clubbing.”
Daytime hotspots (from 2pm to 8:30pm)
“Back in the days when I first came to St. Tropez, we still had “La Voile Rouge” with their famous daytime parties and champagne spraying. The owner has since passed away, and the “in” crowd has moved elsewhere: Mainly to Nikki Beach St Tropez, and more recently also to Bagatelle St Tropez.
Nikki Beach St Tropez is still my favorite – it is larger, has a pool as an attractive centerpiece, and better service. Bagatelle St Tropez is smaller and more intimate, and attracts people that know their staff from the New York original.
Both Nikki Beach St Tropez and Bagatelle St Tropez are not just restaurants or beaches; they both live off a party scene popular with the rich and beautiful. Come for late lunch (rarely before 3pm), and be prepared to be hit by champagne showers after 6pm… or arrange them yourself if you dare.
At Nikki Beach St Tropez, my favorites are their daily fresh seafood specials, their large sushi boats, or the “classic” chicken satay, with various chilled glasses of Chateau Minuty’s Rosé et Or. Be sure to try the Pistachio Tiramisu – my favorite dessert in all of St. Tropez.
Of course, there is also the famous “Club 55” without which no visit to St. Tropez would be complete. There’s no loud music or Champagne spraying there – but great fish and the “incontournable” (= must have) vegetable platters for the whole table.
“Brasserie des Arts has re-started the “dine with a DJ” experience after famous “Villa Romana” lost a little bit of appeal due to stricter noise ordinances. Go to dinner just before 11pm – and by midnight you’ll sit amidst loud club music, with the first diners dancing on the tables! Open until 3am every night.
Newcomer L’Opéra St Tropez is equally attractive – located at the port with great views from the terrace of yachts moored in the harbor. Old Nikki Beach management has turned this old Café into the latest night hot spot – with reservations being extremely difficult in the high season. L’Opera (L Opera St Tropez) features nightly shows with flame throwers, exotic dancers and violin players.”
“In a garden of colored lights and over-the-top décor, classic Villa Romana pairs authentic Italian cuisine and serious partying. Order the famous rum cocktail to go with your wood-fired truffle pizza. It’s the priciest of the three, but hey, if you’re still looking at prices, then St Tropez is not the right place for you. I (and other friends) find it less attractive now that they have to turn the music down at 12:30am already as they do not have an automatically closing roof like the competitors.”
“Banh Hoi is a hidden gem of a restaurant down a charming lane away from the bustling port area. The menu showcases Thai and Vietnamese cuisine. Dishes to try include tuna tartare, pork sushi, crispy thin pancakes filled with shrimp, and a red or yellow Thai curry with the most amazing coconut rice.”
“There are only three nightclubs in St. Tropez: Caves du Roy, VIP Room, and Papagayos. The latter has become the meeting point for teenagers coming with their parents, so that’s not for me. My favorite is still the oldest, most reputable of the three: Caves du Roy in Hotel Byblos. Even with its 70s décor, it remains a chic club and “the” place to be seen for late night dancing and pre-dawn partying. Famous DJ Jack E with his “Welcome to St. Tropez” interjections knows how to get everyone dancing. The most lavish of the party-goers will end up in ordering wars over the 38,000 Euro “Mathusalem” sized Cristal bottles.
The VIP Room is the alternative option for serious clubbing – with a more contemporary style and a slightly younger crowd. Large video screens and live performances amidst a turning dance floor are simply electric. Modern Mediterranean and Italian cuisine is on offer throughout the night just outside the club, but whatever fuels you, you better be dressed to the nines and ready to dance.”
Christian has also handpicked his Top 10 selection of luxury villas in every price range for you. Trust him for his picks!
Nestled along the French Riviera and a short drive from Nice or Cannes, St. Tropez is one of the liveliest towns along the coast during the summer. Vacationers delight in the sandy beaches, culture, gourmet food and hot nightlife of St. Tropez. The wealthy Plage Port Grimaud is the best beach to see and to be seen lounging in a Burberry bikini. Plage de Tahiti is notorious for its “unspoken” clothing-optional policy and risque atmosphere.
The best beaches for families can be found at Plage de la Bouillabaisse, Plage des Graniers and Plage des Jumeaux, which also offer beachside playgrounds. Plage de Pampellone is 3 miles of beautiful beaches, bars and places to stop for snacks.
Not a beach person? Lunch like the French in a cozy cafe overlooking the harbor and take in the people and the ritzy yachts in the harbor. Prowl around the open-air markets for hidden antique treasures, break out the credit cards for shopping at the upscale boutiques, or curb your spending and settle on a quality bottle of olive oil or wine from Provence.
Visitors traveling on private or business airplanes can land just miles from St. Tropez at Saint-Tropez Air Developpement. Other guests may choose to fly into the airports at Nice or Toulon-Hyeres.
This region is packed with tourists in the summer making for crowded restaurants and highways. The best months to visit are June and September, when visitors can enjoy the beaches and nice summer weather away from the hordes; the last 2 weeks in July and the entire month of August are hot holiday time for French families and other Europeans on vacation.
Villazzo offers some of the most magnificent luxury villas in all of St. Tropez. Alternately The Hotel Byblos and Residence de la Pinede both offer accommodations fit for a king — and the palace-like decor and high-end prices make this clear. The breezy Hotel La Ponche pays tribute to old-time St. Tropez and sits in the old fishing village overlooking the water.
Provenciale cuisine has gained recognition outside of this region as Mediterranean food is celebrated from chic restaurants in New York to hidden gems in the middle of America. For a true Provenciale treat, try the dish that have made this cuisine famous: boullaibaise accompanied by a fine glass of burgundy or bourdeaux from a local vineyard. Foodies shouldn’t leave town before indulging in dinner at gourmand Alain Ducasse’s noted restaurant Spoon Byblos at the Hotel Byblos. Les Mouscardins is another well-known local restaurant serving up classic Proveciale cuisine in a glamorous setting, while Chez Maggi is a favorite with the locals.
While St. Tropez may seem to be all about glitz and glamour, it shouldn’t be discounted as a great family vacation destination. The beaches are beautiful, the lifestyle laid-back, and the proximity on the famous Cote d’Azur of the French Riviera make it a great cultural venue. Keep in mind that as this little town handles its current surge in popularity, this also brings about crowded restaurants, crowded beaches and very crowded streets.
While you are there
Not for wallflowers, Les Caves du Roy at the Hotel Byblos is everything a trendy club should be with beautiful people, thumping music and a packed dance floor. Give in to Mixmaster DJ Jack-E’s tunes on the floor, or pop the cork on the Cristal and take it all in — you’ll want to commit every last detail to memory, which might dull the pain when the credit card bill arrives.
An afternoon spent at the Musee de I’Annonciade, also known as Muse St-Tropez, can ease the pain of a rainy day. This museum houses a collection of modern art and includes pieces by such well-known artists as Matisse, Bonnard and Seurat.
